What is a color master batch? The full name is Color Master Batch, also known as Color Seed. It is a new type of colorant for polymer materials, also known as Pigment Preparation. Color masterbatch is mainly used in plastics. Color masterbatch is composed of three basic elements: pigment or dye, carrier, and additive. It is an aggregate made by uniformly attaching a super constant amount of pigment to a resin. It can be called a pigment concentration, so its coloring power is higher than the pigment itself. When processing, a small amount of color masterbatch and non colored resin are mixed to achieve the design pigment concentration of colored resin or products. It is a colorant that is typically used to fill different color masterbatches as needed in the production of thermoplastic products. Different materials and different colors have different filling ratios, which, as far as I know, will not exceed 10%.
The main uses of color masterbatches are:
- 1) the coloring ability of titanium dioxide: determining the amount of titanium dioxide used in the same color of plastic products;
- 2) Whiteness of titanium dioxide: determines the appearance of light colored (white) plastic products with the same titanium dioxide content;
- 3) Dispersion of titanium dioxide: It affects the production cost of color mesh particles and the appearance, luster, and other indicators of plastic products;
- 4) Processing performance of titanium dioxide: affecting the production cost of color masterbatch. 5) Processability of titanium white: strong processability.

The use of color masterbatches has the following obvious advantages:
- 1. Make pigments have better dispersibility in products: Color masterbatches are aggregates made by uniformly attaching super constant pigments to resins. During the production process of color masterbatch, it is necessary to refine the pigment to improve its dispersibility and coloring power. The carrier of the special color masterbatch is the same as the plastic variety of the product, with good compatibility. After heating and melting, the pigment particles can be well dispersed in the plastic of the product.
- 2. It is beneficial to maintain the chemical stability of pigments: If pigments are used directly, they will absorb water and oxidize due to direct contact with air during storage and use. After becoming a color master, the resin carrier can isolate the pigments from air and moisture, which can maintain the quality of the pigments for a long time.
- 3. Ensure the stability of product color: Color master particles are similar to resin particles, making measurement more convenient and accurate. When mixed, they will not adhere to the container, and the mixture with the resin is relatively uniform. Therefore, it can ensure the stability of the addition amount, thereby ensuring the stability of product color.
- 4. Protection of the health of operators: Pigments are generally powdery, which can easily fly when added and mixed. Inhalation by the human body will affect the health of operators.
- 5. Keep the environment clean and not contaminate utensils
- 6. Simple process, easy color conversion, saving time and raw materials
